Welcome
As a certified clinical nutritionist with a Master of Science in Human Nutrition, I work with a lot of people dealing with digestive issues. My very first client was myself. Diagnosis: IBS-C. Sounds sexy, right?
During the spring of 2013, I realized I might have SIBO. I treated myself with a low-FODMAPS GAPS-style program and my symptoms subsided. Then, I took a course with China Study author T. Colin Campbell and, feeling better, was strongly inspired to return to my vegetarian roots. I even got certified in Plant Based Nutrition from Cornell University. I loved my starchy plant-based diet. But a year later, I once again found myself bloated as hell.
In January 2015, I went back online and dug into the research. A lactulose breath test in February confirmed the diagnosis: High baseline methane levels and a distal small intestine bacterial overgrowth. I started treatment with herbal antimicrobials, digestive/motility support and a diet low in sugars, grains and other fermentable carbohydrates. And I started Sexy Sibo to share the adventure!
This journey is continuing. For people with IBS-C (and maybe D, too) SIBO will be a recurring issue unless you address the underlying issues and follow a supportive diet—one that does not feed the minions. The good news is there are still lots of healthy, natural and delicious things you CAN eat. Game on! Are you with me?
